Animal Track Trap

Discover the hidden wildlife visiting your school grounds with this simple and exciting activity! Create a mud track trap by laying down a patch of smooth, damp soil or soft mud in a quiet area, then leave it overnight to see which creatures pass through. The next morning, children can investigate the footprints left behind — from birds and hedgehogs to foxes and squirrels — and try to identify the mystery visitors using a track guide. It’s a brilliant way to spark curiosity, build observation skills, and learn about local wildlife in a hands-on, memorable way

Join the Bugs Count Survey!

By taking part in the Bugs Count Survey, you’ll help uncover the amazing diversity of invertebrates living all around us — even in built-up areas! Your findings will show how many species are out there, where they’re found, and which types of bug habitats appear in urban, suburban, and rural places. Every count helps scientists understand how these tiny creatures share our spaces. It’s simple, fascinating, and a lot of fun — so grab your spotter sheet and start counting!

Sound mapping is a fun and mindful activity where children sit quietly in an outdoor space and listen carefully to the sounds around them. Using a blank sheet of paper, they draw a simple map marking where each sound comes from—like birds chirping, leaves rustling, or cars passing by. This helps them tune into their environment and notice things they might usually ignore. It’s a great way to explore nature through listening and build awareness of the world around them.
